Because there is no fixed way of responding to a client’s requirements, the nature of the engagement will vary from project to project. In some cases, work will be carried out on discrete projects; in other cases, the work will run for a longer period and may develop into a relationship based on a business adviser or counsel role. In each case though there is always a user-friendly approach and the objective of adding value at all levels. In practice, this translates to:
Building the team for the jobIn order to provide the best team for the project and the client, Ruth is able to draw on her vast range of contacts across the professional services and finance arena, both in the UK and overseas. These are established working relationships, which help the project to run smoothly, on time and to budget. If, however, a client has its own team of advisers, Ruth is also happy to work with those people. Fees and billing arrangementsDifferent projects require different fee and billing arrangements. Fixed fees, capped fees, hourly rates, day rates or retainer arrangements are negotiated in advance, depending on the preference of the client, the nature of the project and the level of involvement required. Fee estimates, monthly fee reporting and billing all help to control the costs. The particular arrangements can be discussed and agreed in each case.
